Internet radio stations use streaming audio technology to deliver audio article to your listeners. Instead of man having to download the full audio file to listen to it, it is "streamed" off of a server so the end user can listen to the article live instead of having the file's data stored on their computer. Gear you'll need to get going:
1. Cd Player - You'll most likely be using and audio player on your computer, such as Real Player. You can set-up your playlist as you see fit. Some Isps offer streamingradio services that use your media player playlist to figure out what you want played, and when to play it. You will need to check with your Isp to find out the details, as every one is different.
2. Cd ripping software (To gain your audio files) - I personally use Windows Media Player to rip my audio cds, it seems to be the easiest I've come across. Please keep in mind that there are extra rules for broadcasting copyrighted content, and you will be liable if you broadcast any copyrighted content.
3. Audio editing software - If you decide to record whatever yourself, hub identification bits and the like, you'll need a microphone too. I use Sony Soundforge for any audio editing, as it's a very simple, intuitive program. This will also benefit you if you'd like to censor any of the songs, or add whatever to them. It also helps out if you want to cut down on the song's file sizes. You can pull a .wav file into Soundforge and yield a compressed Mp3 file in seconds.
4. A accepted hosting account with an Isp - Every Isp is different, so you'll have to check with yours. All you nothing else but need to ask is if they reserve streaming internet radio, and if they do, you're good to go.
This is a very simplified guide to setting up and internet radio station, but it should be an sufficient primer if you have no knowledge of streaming internet radio. There are many programs out there, free and paid, that will help you get the job done too. Judge the sound for yourself, it is a very bizarre anomaly but very much worth investigating. Instructions: 1) Download and save the original WAV file from NASA/Cassini website: saturn.jpl.nasa.gov 2)Open an audio editor like Cool Edit or Sonar and raise the pitch/frequency of the file by 12 tones with the pitch shifter.. and there it is, speech patterns. How can anyone explain this anomaly. Certainly NASA have no explanation for it after we presented the file to them for their opinion. SETI also dont know what make of it. What do you think? The Xact XS025 Sound System Portable Boom Box is designed to interface with the Stream Jockey XTR-1 Plug and Play satellite receiver. The boom box, with its two attached 4"" speakers, gives the Plug and Play receiver portability, allowing you to play the unit virtually anywhere. An auxiliary input lets you connect a portable CD or MP3 player to the boom box.

The XAct XS025 Sirius satellite radio boombox turns your XAct XTR1 plug-and-play satellite receiver (sold separately) into a portable party machine. The unit's 4-inch full-range speakers (5 watts x 2) fill the room with up to 120 channels of music, sports, entertainment, or other Sirius satellite radio programming. Even better, the unit works almost anywhere. Just plug it into an available AC outlet, or add eight D-size batteries (not included) and haul it to the beach or the nearest tailgater. Wherever you go, the XS025 lets you enjoy your Sirius subscription with friends.
Additional features include an auxiliary line-level input for connecting your iPod or other audio source, an audio output that connects to a home stereo system, a stereo headphone jack for private listening, and a satellite radio antenna with a 19.75-foot cord. The boombox, which measures 17.75 by 7.38 by 6.25 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year warranty.
